Innovation in Soil Management Systems

Modern soil management

Modern day soil management systems are slowly shifting from traditional methods such as using fertilizers and chemical-based soil enhancers to organic and natural products.

More and more products are being developed in laboratories as the demand for agricultural products continues to increase in enormous proportions. Meanwhile, environmental issues are becoming a global concern.

An effective alternative to conventional methods of soil management is the use of bio-stimulators such as enzyme. IRASSS has produced Soil-Zyme™ as an effective soil management tool needed to enhance soil properties.

Effects of Fertilizers and Chemicals on Soil

Employing fertilizers and chemical-based enhancers are traditional methods for increasing crop yield. However, farming problems are only being solved by these products temporarily.

Thought effective enough in eradicating unwanted pests, viruses and microbes, these products impose stress to the soil. Furthermore, the water holding capacity of the soil is also compromised as aggregate formation is being affected by too much use of chemicals.

Soil sterility becomes a major concern once soil toxicity has reached an alarming level. Soil nutrients needed by crops to grow abundantly are not being replenished as the population of beneficial microbes is eradicated alongside the pests and unwanted microorganisms.

Gradually, instead of increasing yields every season, the produce gets lower and lower.

Why Microbes should not be Compromised?

Bacteria and fungi are commonly regarded as soil microbes. These microbes take the lead in decomposing organic matter. Beneficial microbes also take care of dead plant material.

Efficiently decomposing dead organic matter and recycling plant material produces the nutrients needed by the soil to support crops and plants. Nitrogen and phosphorous content of the soil increases as the microbes form symbiotic relationships with plant roots.

Working in Synergy

Soil-Zyme™ is a mix of hand-picked enzymes with surfactant serving as stabilizer. As an enzyme, it works by stimulating beneficial soil microbes while at the same time taking action in eradicating unwanted fungi, nematodes(microscopic worms), and other parasites.

Soils that have minimal water holding capacity are enhanced as soil aggregate formation gets a boost. Loamy soil is generated by the decomposition of organic material and residual hydrocarbons. Using Soil-Zyme™ takes care of the business by working in synergy with beneficial microbes and enhancing soil properties.
